Pokémon Scarlet/Violet Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are back

Nintendo has brought back its voucher program just in time for some of the Switch’s biggest games. Did you miss Splatoon 3 or Bayonetta 3 last year? You can now save over $20 on both.

For the uninitiated, the voucher program works as follows. For $100, Switch Online subscribers can purchase two coupons that can be redeemed for digital versions of eligible full-priced games. As a result, you save $20, plus you get $5 cash back in gold coins that you can use on future purchases. It is possible to have up to eight vouchers at a time, and they are valid for 12 months. You can currently redeem them on the following games:

Previously, I have criticized this program, and it would be better if the savings could be applied equally to cheaper games or solo purchases. Over the last year, Nintendo has done a surprising number of sales, and vouchers are a great way to get new gear at a lower price.

I wouldn’t use them for games as old as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Breath of the Wild, since they’re both excellent and timeless, but they’re also frequently on sale for around $40. Xenoblade Chronicles 2, for example, has almost never been on sale for less than $60. In addition, big 2022 releases like Kirby and the Forgotten Land probably won’t see other meaningful discounts for some time. When it comes to saving money on certain games, the voucher program is worth considering.
